“STYC provides our high school students with the opportunity to engage and participate in the legislative process. This is a very hands on experience and the students truly stepped up to the plate,” Martinez said. “What makes me even more proud is that the majority of the members of STYC are from the Rio Grande Valley and the area that I represent, District 39. Both the President, Gabriella Aviles, and Vice President, Alyssa Valdez, are students at Weslaco High School. The Rio Grande Valley is at the forefront of this bill.”

HB 3813 was left pending in committee and will be voted on in the near future in order to be sent to the full House for passage.
